West Point/ Valley/ Lanett Flooding — December 24, 2015
Posted: 12/29/2015
“West Point Lake and surrounding areas received around 12 inches of rain over Christmas break. The reservoir rose nearly 8 feet (636.51 msl). As a result, the spillway gates were opened to help lower the reservoir to a manageable level. As of Monday, December 28, 2015, the level has fallen to 634.71 msl and continues to be lowered by releasing 30,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) through the spillway gates of the West Point Dam. Given the rainfall forecast and river flow rates, Water Engineers are confident the current plan of operations will minimize impacts to both the reservoir and residents and businesses downstream.”
